Encompassing 11 peaks over 26,000 feet and 100 over 22,000 feet, the Himalayan ecosystem is a marvel of both views and biodiversity.  However over the past several decades this region has seen monumental environmental degradation, threatening both the livelihood and water supply of billions (Wang, 2007).
